Melbourne & Mornington Peninsula September 2023 Ioana, 3 October 202325 August 2024 On our last trip to Melbourne we were treated to really nice spring weather. The Botanical Gardens displayed various shades of green and colourful flowers. The Shrine of Remembrance gave beautiful views towards the city and proved to be quite a popular place to visit on a Sunday. We visited Heide Museum of Modern Art as well, the place that John and Sunday Reed turned into an artist heaven. The walk along Balcombe Estuary to The Briars was very relaxing and Arthur’s Seat gave us nice sunset views towards Port Philip Bay. We went for another walk in the morning. Charlie’s Museum in Arthurs Seat have some interesting display items – not only cars. Czechs would be quite proud with the number of cars and motorcycles from that part of the world on display. Point Nepean National Park offers beautiful views both towards Port Phillip Bay and the Southern Ocean. The Quarantine Station is an interesting visit – being used as recently as 1999 for refugees from Kosovo – and so are Fort Nepean and Harold Holt‘s memorial, the beach from where he left to go swimming and never came back. We sample the hot spring baths at both Peninsula Hot Springs and Alba Thermal Springs. We preferred Peninsula as there’s more shade and also more pools, but Alba is newer and slightly fancier. We spent the morning of our last day before flying back to Perth around Mornington Park, walked to Mornington Pier and back, past Mornington Yacht Club with its controversially named boats. 2023 Australia Mornington Peninsula Travel Victoria
