Spider webs in corners Ioana, 28 August 202429 September 2025 Feared by many, liked by some, spiders are amazing creatures that live in a small universe that they create by spinning their web. The ability to build webs is instinctive, they don’t need to learn it, and they use different types of silk depending on what that thread will do – structure, capture pray etc. It is mainly the females who build the large, pray-catching webs. The web is a story board – what type of spider built it, who got trapped by it, what they had for lunch. It is also a reminder of the cycle of life, with eggs often found nearby; the large, proud female guarding the net and the smaller males waiting patiently; and insect remains of their meals in several places.
