Total Sun eclipse 1999 Ioana, 7 October 20247 October 2024 On the 11th of August 1999 there was a total solar eclipse that reached maximum in the southern part of Romania, so we went to the Parang Mountains to see it. It was a bit cloudy on the day, and unfortunately the maximum cloud cover was as it reached totality. It was still a very interesting experience. Being quite high on the mountains, there was no man-made noise. But the silence was deafening as all nature sounds stopped for totality, and then slowly-slowly the birds and insects restarted their chirping and buzzing under the reassuring brightness of sun light. 1999 Europe Photography Romania
