The South West Coast of WA: Albany – Busselton (2007) Ioana, 24 May 202619 July 2026 These are photos from a road trip we did back in 2007, along WA’s beautiful South West coast, between Albany and Busselton. Albany Our journey began in Albany, where we explored the fascinating former whaling station, now a museum that tells the story of the town’s whaling history, which only stopped in late 1978, and its transition to conservation. Nearby, the towering wind turbines at the Albany Wind Farm stood in striking contrast to the dramatic Southern Ocean, while a visit to the replica Amity brig offered a glimpse into the voyage of the first European settlers to Western Australia. Valley of the Giants Leaving Albany, we travelled west through towering forests to the Valley of the Giants, where walking among the ancient tingle trees and along the elevated Tree Top Walk was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of the trip. Augusta Augusta is the place where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet at Cape Leeuwin. Standing by the historic lighthouse and watching the powerful seas collide was a memorable experience. Margaret River & Busselton There is always something new to explore in the Margaret River region, enjoying its rolling vineyards, towering karri forests, rugged coastline and relaxed country atmosphere. In Busselton we wandered along the iconic timber jetty stretching almost two kilometres into Geographe Bay. 2007 Albany Augusta Australia Busselton Travel Western Australia
