Romania 2016 Ioana, 30 August 202530 August 2025 Romania is never boring and there’s always so many things to see and do. After flying into Bucharest we slept in Pitesti. From there we drove todards River Olt Valley, through Scornicesti, Ceausescu‘s birthplace. We crossed the River Olt at Slatioara, and stopped in Tg Jiu for a night, to see Constantin Brancusi‘s Endless Column, Table of Silence and The Kissing Gate. Next was Tismana Monastery with its beautiful murals and flowers. We stopped at Orsova and Danube’s Iron Gates (Portile de Fier) where we went on a boat trip to see a bit closer the famous Decebalus sculpture and this body of water that so many crossed by swimming during communist times, to escape into neighbouring Serbia. From Orsova we drove through Cerna Valley to Baile Herculane, then across Transalpina to reach Sibiu where we spent a couple of nights. All those big eyes watching….. We visted Sibiel where we went to see the Museum of Icons on Glass before heading off to Sighisoara. We drove the spectacular roads of Bicaz Gorge and visited a trout farm. In Iasi we visited the Palace of Culture that had been recently renovated, ate lots of yummy sour cherries which were in season, and enjoyed the Ceramics Fair Cucuteni. Bye bye Iasi, see you next time! 2016 Europe Iasi Romania Sibiu Travel
