Hawkesbury River Ioana, 9 noiembrie 202322 iulie 2024 We had a very short holiday in Pittwater, north of Sydney, and hired a boat to explore Hawkesbury River. Pittwater is an estuary south of Broken Bay and the entrance of the Hawkesbury River into it. We left from Gibson Marina down Pittwater, around Scotland Island and turned left at West Head before Lion Island to explore Cowan Creek first. We reached Akuna Bay, then Bobbin Head, anchored for a lunch break in Jerusalem Bay and had a quick stop in Refuge Bay to see the waterfall. Then we continued up Hawkesbury River just past Jolls Bridge (didn’t have time to go any further on this day trip), then headed back past Lillypad floating villa. It was a pretty gloomy day with far from perfect light for photos but they still tell nice stories. There are lots of photos of boats which we love…. skip over if you don’t. The weather was not the best for hiking so we only drove around and did some short hikes around Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park in between showers. We first went to West Head lookout which gave us some really nice views over the entire bay and walked down to West Head Beach. Then we went to Resolute picnic area and walked to the Red Hands Cave to see the Aboriginal paintings. We also visited Windsor first to see the flabbits and other bits and pieces from the region at Hawkesbury Regional Museum. 2023 Australia New South Wales Sydney Travel
