Lancelin & The Pinnacles Desert

These photos are from a trip to the golden sands of the Pinnacles and the bright white beaches and sand dunes of Lancelin in Western Australia in February 2026.

The Pinnacles are natural limestone formations scattered across the yellow desert landscape of Nambung National Park. Located only a couple of hours north of Perth, the area is stunning at any time of day, but especially during sunrise and sunset when the colours really come alive.

We visited them again in 2010.

Our very first trip from Perth to the Pinnacles was back in 2006, before Indian Ocean Drive existed and before there was a sealed road between Lancelin and the Pinnacles. Back then, the journey itself felt like part of the adventure.
